Larry N. Carlin, age 77, of Snow Lake, Fremont, Indiana, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 at his winter home in Naples, Florida, with his family by his side. He was born on July 22, 1940 in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Dale and Margaret (Starr) Carlin. Larry attended Bryan High School. He enlisted into the United States Navy in 1959, and served until 1964. While serving in the Navy, Larry was stationed in Christchurch, New Zealand. During the time he was serving his country, he met Betty McLintock, they married and traveled back to Larry’s hometown of Bryan, Ohio, where they raised their four children, they were married for 41 years. Later in life Larry and Betty relocated their home to Snow Lake, Fremont, Indiana. After many years as a construction worker, Larry established his own business in Angola, “Carlin Construction “. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. He was a member of the Bryan Moose Lodge, and Moose Riders, Bryan Eagles Lodge, Bryan V.F.W., AMVETS, American Legion, various hunting and sporting clubs, and Peace Lutheran Church, Fremont, Indiana. Survivors include his children, Maria Stombaugh of Bryan, Ohio, Anthony (Sandi) Carlin of Hillsdale, Michigan, Kevin (Lori) Carlin of Edgerton, Ohio, and Kent (Candy) Carlin of Angola, Indiana, his special companion, Betty Britenriker of Archbold, Ohio, thirteen grandchildren, Shawnaa Harwell, Sindy Rigg, Andrew (Cassie) Carlin, Cody (Elizabeth) Carlin, Kyle Carlin, Keisha Carlin, Keith Carlin, Kyley Robbins, Austin Carlin, Kait Carlin, Caleb Biernat, Cassie (Carlin) Smith, and David (Susan) Carlin, twelve great-grandchildren, a sister, Kay (Tom) Ivy of Sarasota, Florida, and two brothers, Ed (Annabell) Carlin of Archbold, Ohio, and Tim (Sue) Carlin of Lake James, Angola, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Betty Carlin, she preceded him in death on July 11, 2004. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Pastor Jeffrey Teeple officiating. Burial will follow services at Jamestown Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana, with military honors. Memorials in his memory may be made to Cameron Hospice or to Peace Lutheran Church.
