Lurene Mae Calloway

She was born on June 3, 1936 in Orland, Indiana to the late Hermit and Mary (Wills) Penix.

Lurene attended Orland School. She later married George Calloway on November 21, 1952. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2008.

She worked for many years at Bronson Plastics, retiring in 1985.

Lurene was a longtime member of Mystic Star # 354 OES of Bronson, Michigan.

She loved playing cards, crocheting, puzzles, gardening, and her Roosters. Most of all she loved her family.

Survivors include her sons, Dean (Christine) Calloway of Florida, Randy Calloway of Bronson, Michigan, Ken (Debbra) Calloway of Bronson, Michigan, Steve (Beverly) Calloway of Burr Oak, Michigan and Jeff (Shelley) Calloway of Bronson, Michigan, 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, sister, Patricia Walter of Cincinnati, Ohio and a brother, Larry (Diane) Penix of Angola, Indiana.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sandy Calloway, and a brother-in-law, George Walter.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana. Rev. Terry Siler will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held prior to services from 10 am until 11 am Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.

Burial will follow services at Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland, Indiana.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to the Mystic Lodge # 354 OES, Bronson, Michigan.
