Lynn was born in Superior, WI on July 29, 1947. She was first of five children born to Win and Patricia Abney. Shortly, thereafter, they moved to the family farm in Crandon, WI. It was there that she developed a love of horses, all things out-of-doors, and deep connections to her roots. She possessed a keen spirit of adventure and went on to develop a gift for music and making friends. Always the “draw”, others sought out her friendship, humor, and loving spirit.
Lynn married her husband, Denny, on October 5, 1973, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. There the couple supported one another in raising four children, pursuing active careers and celebrating their faith in Jesus Christ. The couple completed a challenging course in the Bethel Bible Series, and this would impact Lynn for the rest of her days. As a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont, IN, she was active in the Altar Society and was devoted to her Bible studies and the friends she studied with.
She also enjoyed singing with Sweet Adelines.
Lynn received her registered nursing license in 1982 and after a time as a practicing RN, went on to specialize in diabetic education and care. She was a compassionate nurse who loved her patients and even in retirement she was happy to help neighbors and friends needing support in addressing diabetic care challenges.
Lynn worked hard but never compromised in her desire to be with family and friends. She and Denny purchased a cottage on Snow Lake in Angola, Indiana while she was still working, and later, the couple settled there permanently. They also invested in a vacation home in Key West, Florida. A steady stream of relatives and friends were always welcomed and very well entertained in both places. Water sports, boat rides, days at the sandbar and delicious dining were all just part of the routine.
Lynn was the “giver of good gifts”. She delighted in shopping for family and friends and never failed to send a card or give a special something to someone she cherished. She will be deeply missed.
Lynn is survived by four children, Diane (Joe) Timbrook, Tammy (Frank) Alcala, Danner Johnson, Kelly (Deb) Johnson; eight grandchildren, Jodi (Scott) Bland, Amanda Timbrook, Kelly (Mike) Timbrook, Austin (Nora) Alcala, Jordan (Hanna) Johnson, Haley Johnson, Cali Casaburo, Brady Johnson, Tori (Landon) Johnson, and Bennett Johnson; ten great-grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Gabe, Caleb, Sydney, Katherine, Delaney, Reed, Lillian, Cecelia, and Henry; two great-great grandchildren, Berlynn and Mayz.
Also surviving are her siblings, Jackie Hurley and Jerry (Wendy) Abney of Crandon, WI, and Davis (Ray) Albright of Germantown, WI and sister-in-law Char (Don) Abney of Sheboygan, WI.
