

He was born on October 16, 1931 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
After high school graduation, Walt served two years in the United States Army, stationed in France.
He worked for Ford Motor Company, and later continued his engineering career with Hercules and retired from Voltec in Coldwater, Michigan.
He married Frances Flat on July 4, 1958 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2017.
Walt was a master woodcarver and was an expert pistol marksman. He and his wife also enjoyed square dancing, birdwatching, and photography.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Gail Watson of Angola, Indiana, and grandchildren, James (Siri) Lent of Fremont, Indiana, and Tristan Smith of South Whitley, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Frances Watson, a daughter, Vickie Fay Smith, sister, Margaret, and brothers, James and Charles.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at the Ray-Covenanter Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana, with military honors. Pastor Voyle Hartleroad will officiate the service.
