

W. Ann Johansen, 84, of Tiffin OH died early Saturday morning at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born November 30, 1927 in Windsor, NY to George and Claire (Wescott) Lindsay. Ann graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and married Howard Johansen in 1952 in the state of New York. She had a long career in social work and most recently worked for the Sandusky Valley Mental Health Center, retiring in the early 80’s. Mrs. Johansen was very involved in the community, specifically involved in the League of Women Voters, CASA volunteer in Seneca County, Seneca Friends (Tiffin), Private Industry Council, and was a founder of First Step Domestic Violence Shelter. Ann was a woman of the world traveling extensively during the last 30 years with many friends and family. She was an avid golfer, being a member of both the Fremont Country Club and also the Hilton Head Country Club. For years Ann spent the winters in Hilton Head Isl., S.C. Always up to date on current events, Ann was interested in serving her community in whatever capacity she could. She was also a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fremont.
Surviving are her three daughters, Claire (Michael Pfefferle) Johansen of Tiffin, Nancy (Christopher) Cullen of Green Springs, Gail (Reggie) Peterson of Alaska; brothers, Rex (Marilyn) Wescott of Maryland, Jon (Jeanne) Westcott of Windsor, NY; cousin, Frank (Betty Lou) Sanzo of Sebastian, FL; eleven grandchildren, Ian, Kiel, Lindsay, Isaac, Alana, Elise, Hedy, Willoughby, Adam, JuleLinnea, and Paul; great grandchildren, Kade, Hailey, Ava, and Jason.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 3-7PM at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch St. Fremont. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fremont with Pastor Daniel Orr officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Community Hospice of Tiffin, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or donor’s choice.
