Carl Edward Durnwald, 54, of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 12, 2016. He was born the son of Joseph A. Durnwald, Sr. and Kathleen M. Collins in Fremont, Ohio. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic high school. Carl worked for Nickels Bakery, and later went on to Cooper Standard where we worked in tire assembly, as well as a volunteer on their fire brigade. He was a very active outdoorsman, and loved to go to the family cabin on Houghton Lake, Michigan, where he would go snowmobiling, skiing, and boating with all of his family and friends. Carl was also an avid hunter and fisherman, and belonged to various clubs, including Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, White Tales Unlimited, and the NRA. He was also a member of the Fremont Eagles and the Fremont Yacht Club, where he served as Trustee. Even though he had many hobbies, his time spent enjoying them would not be complete without the company of his family and friends, who he loved dearly. He was a man with a big personality, and he will be sorely missed.
Surviving Carl are his children, Candice A. Durnwald, Katie M. Durnwald, Camden D. Kennedy, brothers, Joseph A. (Lucille) Durnwald, Jr., Mike (Barb) Durnwald, Steve (Tina) Durnwald, many nieces and nephews, and his companion, Furbaby Junior.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
