Janet Durnwald

Janet M. Durnwald, 98, formerly of Fremont and most recently of Toledo, died Tuesday afternoon at her residence. Janet was born March 4, 1915 in Fremont, OH, the daughter of John and Cordella (Meyer)Halbeisen. She was a 1933 graduate of Fremont Ross High and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fremont, OH.

Surviving are her daughters: Judy Horvath, Pam Lister, Mary Lynn (Patrick) Hart, daughter- in-law Peg Halm; step-sons Kenneth (Dianne) Durnwald, Dennis (Carol) Durnwald; step-daughters, Susan (Mike) Benedum and Carol Park; 13 grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Richard Halm, Wilbur Koch and Hilary Durnwald; son, Thomas Halm; son-in-law, Dale Lister, step-son: Larry Koch; sisters: Marguerite Horwath, Ruth Halbeisen and Helen Halbeisen. The family would like to thank West Park Place and Senior Care of Toledo as well as Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care, concern and support.

Visitation will take place on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6-8P.M. at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, OH where Christian Wake Services will begin at 7:30P.M. A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 10:00A.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 709 Croghan Street, Fremont, OH with Rev. Michael Zacharias officiating. Private family interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Toledo, OH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Bernardine Home, 1220 Tiffin Street, Fremont, OH.
