Joanne A. Young

Joanne A. Young, 83, of Fremont, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Valley View Care Center. She was born September 4, 1931 in Fremont the daughter of Howard and Matilda "Dedow" (Gabel) Hawk. May 10, 1952 she married Werner "Bud" Young, Jr., who preceded her in death on July 31, 1995. Joanne helped many veterans before retiring from the Sandusky County Veterans Office. She also worked locally for Richard's Town and Country, Culligan Water and the Sandusky County Health Department. Joanne volunteered much of her time at Valley View Care Center, the election board, NAMI, the Migrant Ministry, and numerous hours as a teachers' aid for her daughters in their classrooms. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and assisted with communion distribution for shut-ins, funeral luncheons and other various volunteer activities. In her later years, she enjoyed reading and crocheting. One of her favorite activities was playing cards, both bridge and pinochle, with close friends and high school girlfriends.

Surviving are her children, Lynda (Bill) Hotz of Fremont, OH, LouAnne Young-Barrett of Hilton Head, SC, Larry Young of Fremont, OH, Rob Young of Clyde, OH; grandchildren, Kate, Carl, Christie, Tiffany, Danielle, and Ryan; great-grandchildren: Ivan and Eloise; and a sister Martha Unger of Houston, TX; and numerous loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant son Jeffrey Carl Young; parents; siblings, Frank Hawk, Jim Hawk, Don Hawk and Mary Alice DiCeasare.

Visitation will take place Friday, August 14, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8P.M. at Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, OH, where Vigil Services will begin at 7:30P.M. A Mass of Resurrection will take place at 10:30A.M. on Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Zacharias officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
