

Lawrence L. Wasserman, 80, of Fremont died Friday, December 29, 2017 at Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, OH. He was born April 10, 1937 in Fremont to Cletus E. and Tecla L. (Weber) Wasserman. Larry went on to enlist in the United States Marie Corp. at the age of 17, serving in London as a machine gunner. Upon his return from the military he drove truck and went on to open his own trucking company based in Dearborn, MI. On December 29, 1956 he married Barbara Ann Burr, they later divorced.
Larry was a proud Marine and an avid fisherman who enjoyed time on the lake, camping, boating, playing cards, football, NASCAR and gambling. He had a passion for eagles and had a large collection of them. He once owned race horses. He had traveled to every state except Hawaii (when driving truck), merely because he could not drive there. He cherished time spent with his son Jude, family and friends. He adored his grandkids and was very giving. No one was a stranger to Larry. He was larger than life and full of fierce character with a heart of gold. He loved to entertain, and always had a story to tell, which made everyone laugh.
Surviving are his children: Theresa (Al) Kuhn of Bettsville, OH; Jude Wasserman of Fremont, OH; Julie (Jeff) Williams of Oak Harbor, OH; Patricia (Fred) Summers of Coeur de A’lene, ID; 10 grandchildren ;14 great -grandchildren; siblings Sylvia (Wally) Powell of Walbridge, OH; Anita Heppner of Westerville, OH; Steven (Betty) Wasserman of Van Wert, OH; brother-in-law Tony (Lori) Szymanowski of Fremont, OH; best friend Danny Masterson of Buffalo, NY and special friend Susie Vernon of Taylor, Michigan (whom he cherished and loved dearly). He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Renee Jeanine and sister Melba Szymanowski.
Larry will be privately laid to rest with his parents at St. Joseph Cemetery in Fremont, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Sandusky County Board of Developmental Disabilities or Sandco Industries of Clyde Ohio.
