Roger William Flick

Roger Flick passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2016 in Fremont, Ohio, where he had been a lifelong resident. He was born on October 2, 1944 in Fremont to Ralph and LaRue (Gnepper) Flick. Roger attended Fremont Ross High School class of 1962, and then enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he spent 3 years in Schweinfurt, Germany until being honorably discharged in 1965 as a specialist in the 4th class. After serving in the Army, Roger began working at the Whirlpool Corporation in 1966, and later attended Terra Technical College where he received an Associate Degree in Applied Science. He also completed his certification and training as a cutter and grinder in the tool & die specialty at Whirlpool, and served on their Fire Brigade for over 25y years until his retirement in 2010. Roger was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fremont, and was a past member of Faith Lutheran Church where he was a Boy Scout leader for Troop #326 for 10 years. He was also a member of several local organizations, including the Eagles, the Moose, the Elks, the V.F.W., and a very active member in the former Fremont Jaycees. Roger was also very active outdoors, and enjoyed going camping, boating, and fishing. When he wasn’t spending time outdoors, Roger also loved to watch sports, and even participated in several bowling and golf leagues in the Fremont area. However, Roger’s main love was the Ohio State Buckeyes, and he will always be remembered for being an AVID fan.

Roger is survived by his children; Ryan Flick and Laura (Buck) Baumann, grandchildren; Brooke Baumann and Albert Baumann, sister; Barbara Borer, all of Fremont, and his brother, John (Gisela) Flick of Palm Springs, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Services were held privately for the family, and entrusted to Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420.
