Bill was born December 14, 1937 in “Houston Holler, over the hill from Candy Run” (near Portsmouth, Ohio) the son of Roy and Lillie (Walker) Sheets. He was a 1957 Ross High Graduate and went on to attend The Ohio State University.
He entered into Basic training Ft. Benning in 1959 and served in the Reserves until 1964.
Bill worked alongside his brother Dave at Warner Mechanical as part of the Local 50. In 1984, an opportunity presented itself and together the brothers established Sheets Supply Inc. He was described as a “Jack of All Trades” able to do it all, quick to give his time, labor and expertise to anyone in need, never expecting the favor returned.
On July 2, 1983 he married Diane Mitchell Binder in Wayne, Ohio. He was a member of Old Fort United Methodist Church and attended the Walk To Emmaus in 1996. Bill enjoyed boating, traveling, racecar driving at Speedway, snowmobiling and dirt bikes. He also was an avid golfer achieving Ace status at Sycamore and Green Hills for a hole in one at each course.
As Vice Commodore of the Fremont Yacht Club, Bill worked diligently with his brother to restore the clubhouse and increase membership, providing others the opportunity to share in his passion of boating and friendship.
Few things brought life to Bill like his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even in his death Bill has made the choice to continue helping others. His brain has been donated for research to the Lewy Body Dementia Association in hopes of a cure.
