

Alice Tayeko (Sasaki) Gunderson peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024 from pancreatic cancer at the age of 77. Born on July 10, 1946, to Mitsuna and Hatsuye Sasaki in Fresno, California. She loved and grew up as a “farmer’s daughter”. Alice graduated from Washington Union High School. She graduated from Fresno State College with a degree in Marketing. With her first position as a Buyer at the Broadway Hale Corporation, she relocated to Pasadena, California.
In 1971, she met Edward Julius Gunderson. Nine years later they married and lived in Southern California. They worked together with the Myotonic Dystrophy Association and the Patient Family Advocacy program at St. Francis Medical Center after Ed was diagnosed in 1987. Ed predeceased Alice in death.
After Ed’s death, Alice devoted her work to the Alzheimer research projects through Rancho Los Amigos and USC Neurology Department. Her passion was with the Alzheimer Brain Research Project.
Alice will be missed by family, friends, and many others who have had their lives brighten by her love and passion for life.
Alice’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Fresno Buddhist Church in Fresno, California.
