Allen was born on January 8, 1947, in Los Angeles, CA. He was the first son of Chiyoko and Roy Nishimura. He grew up in Pasadena where he attended schools and graduated from John Muir High School in 1964. He was an Eagle Scout and received the Sangha Award. Then he attended California State University, Los Angeles and received a degree in Business and Economics. Allen worked for JC Penney in management for 23 years in the Los Angeles area.
In 1982, he married Shirley Taniguchi and they had two daughters, Lisa and Julie. The family lived in Long Beach and Cerritos. Then in 1992, the family moved to Caruthers where he helped on his in-laws's raisin farm. He was a member of the Bowles Buddhist Church, Bowles Shinwakai and the Fresno Buddhist Church. He served on the School Site Council at Washington Union High School. Sadly, they lost their daughter, Lisa in 2000. Allen was involved and served on the Board with Survivors of Suicide, Fresno. The family farm was sold, and in 2001, they moved to Fresno. Allen then pursued an education career by substitute teaching for both Clovis Unified and Fresno Unified School Districts. Allen also taught at Fresno Adult School and Selma Adult School.
Allen enjoyed fishing at Mammoth and going on trips with the girls and taking Bachan and Jiichan on those adventures. Even Uncle David went to Hawaii with the family in 1998. But while in Fresno he also found the casinos!
The family wishes to thank the Nancy Hinds Hospice for their care and support.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Fresno Betsuin Family Dharma Center on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at 2:00 pm. A Burial will be held at Rose Hills in Los Angeles, CA, at a later date.
