After 96 years of a long and beautiful life, Amy passed peacefully away on June 18, 2013. She lived her life as a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother on her ranch on the west side of Fresno with her husband, Avaristo (Evert) Muzio Sr., who preceded her in death in 1995.
Amy was born to Benedetta and Jim Sandrini on December 18, 1916 in Rolinda, California. She was the third oldest of five children born to the Italian immigrants, including siblings Anita, Dante, Erma and Mary. All but Mary Brown are now deceased.
Amy married Evert on October 5, 1933 and from there a wonderful 62-year partnership was created. Evert, known warmly as Chito, and Amy worked hard together to build their farm and dairy near Kearney Park. Evert, with his affectionate charisma and love of horses, was the Italian cowboy at rodeos throughout the state. Amy could prepare a meal for 20 at a moment's notice and still milk the cows and balance the books without ever tiring. They were the perfect team.
They had three children, Evert Muzio Jr., James Muzio and Beverly Muzio; eight grandchildren, Kathryn Muzio, Stephanie Fink, Marc Muzio, Michael Muzio, David Muzio, Lisa Birrell, Debbie Lopez and Melanie Hacker; and 16 great grandchildren. Their ranch was a place of love, stability and endless adventure for every generation.
Even into her late 80s, a visitor to Amy's house would find her outside working in the yard, tending her garden or chopping down a tree if she had the energy, which she always did. And she had a magical kitchen in which she could cook the most delicious meals of anything you desired. Her pasta sauce, hamburgers, cream puffs and Sunday morning breakfast potatoes were legendary.
Amy may have left us for now, but one day we will see her again. She will greet us with her straw hat on, a platter of
homemade cookies and show us how many flowers she has planted in Heaven.
The family would like to thank the dedicated Reminiscence staff of Sunrise Assisted Living in Fresno for caring for Amy these last few years, as well as Saint Agnes Hospice and Pastor Tim.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Stephens & Bean Funeral Chapel.
Recitation of The Holy Rosary and a Catholic Mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, 2838 N. West Ave., Fresno, on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Saint Agnes Home Health and Hospice, 6729 N. Willow Ave., Ste. 103, Fresno, Ca 93710 or Alzheimer's Association of Northern California/Northern Nevada, 1060 La Avenida, Mountain View, Ca 94043.
