Angelo and I knew each other for 43 years before we married in 2012.  I met Angelo when he was 23 years old and had just returned from serving in the Air Force in Vietnam, and I was 17 years old.   The death of my mother and then the sudden death of my step father when I was 18 resulted in my going to live with my grandparents in Dinuba, which temporarily ended my relationship with Angelo.  For 43 years I remained in contact with Angelo. Angelo was one of those rare people that no matter how much time had passed since we had last seen each other, our friendship picked right back up where it had left off. Many people found Angelo to be a difficult person to get to know, but for me, I could see right through him, and he could always see through me.  Angelo and I married (he was my first marriage and I was his third marriage) when I was 60 years old and Angelo was  67 years old, and many times I told Angelo that God most certainly saved the best for last by allowing us to come together so late in our lives.  It was a honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to spend the last 5 years as Angelo's wife. For the fortunate few who actually got to draw close enough to Angelo to know who Angelo was,  I believe we'd all agree that there will NEVER be anyone like Angelo.  Angelo, my love for you IS eternal.

Angelo, I just heard today of your passing.  Although I hadn,t seen you in many years, I remember the times I was at your parents home visiting with your sister and my dear friend Anita,  or we were at some church function.  We always had a lot of fun.   Wishing your family strength and peace at this time.  I know you will be missed by many.

Dee, so sorry for your loss.  

Angelo as our first cousin was closer to us as kids. His parents, Tom and Helen, would visit with Tom's sisters in Sacramento and San Francisco occasionally and we would all come together for holiday dinners. That is how we came to know him as our older cousin from Fresno. Truth be told, he was a little scary to his younger cousins, but that was just because he had the strong personality of his father. 

As adults, we rarely saw him accept for weddings and funerals.  Occasionally, there would be a family reunion or an invitation from his sister, Anita, to visit in Fresno. We all stayed on good terms, even though we were not close.

After his parents passed away, we never heard from him again. Through the family grapevine, we heard he married again.  Thus, that is how we heard about you.  Don't know if you ever heard of us cousins in Sacramento.

I hope your time together was happy.  I wish you nothing but good memories.

Dee, Since hearing of Angelo's death, Becky and I have talked about how hard this must be for you. On Thanksgiving Day, we watched a couple of videos from 2012 of Hofer family times. You and Angelo were in both videos and it was so fun to get to know him better at those gatherings. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you as you say good bye to your dear husband. We love you!
