

Antonia Ortiz was born on May 9, 1916, in La Galera, Guanajuato, Mexico. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2016, surrounded by her entire family who cared for her during her short battle with cancer.
Antonia dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her family which she loved very much. She had nine children, three of which died in infancy. She resided in Leon, Guanajuato while her children were young and moved her family, with the help of oldest son, Margarito, to Chicago, IL in 1965. She worked in textiles with Rubin Grais & Sons until her retirement in May of 1980.
She will always be remembered for her love for God, her kind heart, giving spirit, her love for knitting and crocheting, and her delicious food.
She was preceded in death by her three infant children; sons, Margarito, Raul, and Antonio Ortiz; and granddaughter Silvia.
She leaves behind her children, Estelle Sauerbrei, Rudy Ortiz, Juanita McCown and husband J. Dale McCown; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Daniello; grandchildren, Margarita, Juanita, Ana, Erica, Rosario, Anthony, Fernando, Blanca, Monika, and Bradley; great-grandchildren, Casper, Blake, and various other great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held in her honor at Saint Peter's Cemetery on Friday, April 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.
