
A long time resident of Fresno, Arlene was born on June 2, 1922 in Windsor, Colorado to David and Pauline Foos. The second of 3 children, she graduated from Fresno High School in 1940; and the former Fresno State College in 1944. She married James E. Pipes in 1962, and was employed as a secretary at California State University Fresno for 30 years, retiring in June 1984. After the death of her husband in 1985, she spent the remainder of her life traveling to various parts of the world and visiting with family members that she dearly loved. She moved to Pleasanton, California in 2005 to recuperate from surgery and to be closer to family, and then to Arroyo Grande in 2008.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert and sister Jean.
She is survived by son Joseph Kane and his wife, Cathleen; daughters Maureen Wolfe and her husband, James, and Kathryn Ramsey and her husband, Kenneth; stepdaughters Jamie Ellis and Joanne Mickaelian; stepsons Randall Pipes and his wife Patti, and James Pipes and his wife, Nancy; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Private burial will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
