Aurelio “Elmer” Palacios, at the age of 90 years old, was born on May 31, 1935, in Fresno, California, and passed away on February 26, 2026.
Aurelio was a beloved and cherished presence to those who knew him.
Elmer is survived by three sons: Mark Palacios, Paul Palacios, and Michael Palacios.
Aurelio was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who proudly served his country for 36 years in the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard. He joined the Air Force right out of high school in 1954 and went on to build a long and honorable career in military service.
During his time in the Air Force, Aurelio worked his way up to become a supply officer, contributing to the maintenance and readiness of aircraft. His military journey took him around the world, including assignments in Korea and Paris. He also served during the time of Hurricane Camille.
Aurelio often shared a lighthearted story from his time in Korea when he slipped in a rice paddy and fell into some kimchi — a memory that always brought laughter to those who heard it.
As a team leader, Aurelio was known for encouraging those around him to pursue education and take advancement tests so they could grow and improve themselves. He took great pride in mentoring his teammates and helping them advance in their careers.
After 36 years of dedicated service, Aurelio retired from the Air Force, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, encouragement, and commitment to others.
