Barbara Mae Davies

Barbara Graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1946. Barbara attended Fresno State College right after high school where she joined the Delta Omega Chapter. She taught dance at night and weekends while working at Pearson Realty. It was there she met a young man, Don Davies. They were married November 13, 1955, at The Congil Church in Sanger, CA. It was a rainy night, and the power went out so they were married by candlelight, she always told us that rain at a wedding is very very good luck.

Barbara is survived by her children Kip Davies (Julie) and Brett Davies (Jill). Barbara was loved by her family. Barbara was “Grandma Barb” to her 6 grandchildren Curtis (Lane), Matthew (Courtney), Dawn (Chris), Tyler, Tanner (Maria), Taryn and her 10 great grandchildren Tinsley, Piper, Sydney, Madden, Hayden, Goldie, Jack, Kendall, Ben and David.

Barbara and her husband Don opened a restaurant “MR D’s” in 1970. It was a very popular spot at that time located near Roeding Park. Barbara was the hostess and she always greeted people with a warm and friendly smile. After “MR D’s” closed, she volunteered at Saint Agnes Hospital in the gift shop for 10 years. Barbara was a woman of deep faith and attended church regularly and loved her bible studies.

Barbara loved playing Bridge, which she played for over 60 years in many groups. She loved her garden, tap dancing which she did till she was 80 years old. She loved her family and friends and spending time with them. She never missed a birthday, anniversary or holiday by sending a note or dropping off a little something. She spent countless hours at her grandkids’ dance recitals, baseball, soccer, football, basketball and volleyball games. And of course she was quite the poker player.

Our family would like to acknowledge the care givers at Bella Care Homes and Cromwell Haven. They cared for our mother as if she were their own.

The family held a private Graveside Service at Belmont Memorial Park.
