

Belva was born on March 26, 1921 in Brandon, South Dakota and graduated from Brandon High School. She attended Brandon Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. She attended college in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Belva married Robert M. Amble in San Bernardino, Ca. in 1943 and they had one son, David Amble. Robert passed away in 1961.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Redlands, Ca. and mission church in Highland, Ca. She worked at Gold Banner in Redlands and Norton Air Base in San Bernardino, Ca.
In 1967 she married Carl O. Benson and lived in Porterville and later in Fresno, Ca. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Belva is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents Edward and Bertha Thompson; two sisters, Leona Thompson and Alma Wickre; two brothers, Selmar and Ernest Thompson.
She is survived by her son, David Benson and his wife Joni; brother, Marlyn Thompson of Brandon, SD; one step-son, Jeoff Benson; step-daughter, Carla Bustos; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home, on Thursday, January 6, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A Graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Friday, January 7, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Followed by a Memorial Service at Peace Lutheran Church Missouri Synod at 11:30 a.m.
