Catherine Susanne Thomsen

Cathy was raised in San Joaquin, with her three sisters- Cheryl, Carole, and Connie. She attended Tranquility High School and graduated from McLane High school in 1976, where she ran track and played trumpet in the band. Later, she graduated from Fresno State majoring in English Literature.

Cathy met her husband Keith, of 40 years, in 1982 and they were married April 23, 1983. Soon after, the family grew with the addition of three wonderful children- Alexander, Susanne, and Christine.

Enjoying her time as a substitute teacher for Fresno Unified School District and coaching softball for many years; she won multiple championships at Tenaya Middle School. Cathy had many hobbies of various crafts and spent most of her time skiing at China Peak and fishing throughout the Sierra Nevadas with her dogs Fritz and Coco. The time spent with her seven grandchildren were her most cherished moments.

Cathy had a fire and energy so contagious, it is irreplaceable. She adored all the precious time with her family, loved any opportunity to bring everyone together, and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her parents, Don and Nada Schramm; her sisters, Cheryl Assemi, Carole Sweet, and Constance Bell; her husband, Keith Thomsen; their children, Alexander Thomsen, Susanne Ahlvin, and Christine Morehead; seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Cathy on Tuesday September 19th at 10:00 am at Stephen’s and Bean Funeral home. Please plan on attending a luncheon at Pardini’s Banquet and Catering immediately following the services.
