

Donald B. Diebert was born on February 15, 1933 and went home to the Lord on Monday, April 15, 2013. He was a twin and the last son born to John and Annie Diebert. He was one of five brothers and five sisters. His parents immigrated from Russia around 1900. He was raised in Fresno's "Roosion Town" in west Fresno. He married Ann L. Butler in 1955.
Don went to local schools and graduated from Fresno State College in 1955 earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He received a California license in Civil Engineering and later a Geo Technical License. He also earned a permanent teaching credential for California Community Colleges and Designated Teaching Credential for teaching Engineering subjects.
Don worked at various places; his dad's packing house (dried fruit), Mare Island Shipyard, Division of Highways (Caltrans), North America Aviation (rocket Dyne), Fresno County Public Works, (in charge of Design, Construction, Land Development Divisions), California Highway Patrol MAIT team, and his own business, Double D Engineering since 1985.
Don worked hard when work was needed and played harder when it was time to play. He liked to dance especially the polka. Ann and Don would take trips to Oregon to go to an Oktoberfest. He joined the Edison Social Club and two Italian Social Clubs so he and Ann could dance. He liked to dance, fish, play golf, and bowl because of the people involved. He would gamble at the casinos.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Maria Haas, Elma Mason, Helen Otto, and Amy Strole; brothers, John, Edward, and Stanley Diebert.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Diebert; his daughter, Linda and her husband Felix Bustamante; his son, Donn Diebert; his wife Luisa and his granddaughter, Danielle Diebert; also survived by his sister, Doris Roberts; his twin, Ronald Diebert; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 10:00 a.m.
