

Ernie J. Miller passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the age of 86. Ernie was born in Oklahoma on January 19,1927 to Albert and Edith Miller. He moved to Kerman with his family in 1937. Ernie attended Kerman High School and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon his return, he married Wanda Wilson in 1947 and their union was blessed with two children, Cathy and Stephen.
Ernie worked for Sims Chevrolet before opening Ernie's Auto Repair and Parts in Kerman and parts stores in Fresno and Clovis. After leaving the auto parts business, Ernie and Wanda owned apartments in Fresno, and officially retired in 2000.
He served two terms as Master of Kerman Masonic Lodge. He served as Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and on Kerman City Council. Ernie was a long time member of Kerman Free Will Baptist Church and the Kerman Quartet. Ernie was a devout Christian who cherished his family.
Ernie was preceded in death by his brother, Arlie Miller and son, Stephen Miller.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Wanda Miller; his sister, Bonnie Keyes; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Manuel Ponte; grandchildren and spouses Brian and Erin Ponte, Kristin and Clint Lucas, Michael and Suzanne Miller; and great-grandchildren, Madison Ponte, Jack and Reagan Lucas.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
Interment to follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
Remembrances may be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.
