Eugene Lewis Gandy

Eugene Louis “Brogan” Gandy, 79, of Fresno, Ca. passed away on the 20 Aug 2025, at his home in Fresno, Ca. He was born 9 Oct 1945, in Ellisville, Jones Co. Ms. He was named after the doctor who delivered him, Dr. Eugene L. Banks, at the Ellisville Medical Clinic, where he was born to Charles Russell Gandy, Jr. and Willie Mae Hopkins Gandy. He loved his fruit orchard, and caring for his special ponds in the back of his home. He also loved joking around and making his family laugh. He was a strong man, hence the name Brogan, but was very kind to others.

Eugene was preceded in death by his father Charles R. Gandy Jr. and mother Willie Mae Hopkins Gandy. His adopted daughter, Nancy Ann Gandy, his brothers, Charles R. Gandy (Itrice), Frank Carl Gandy (Sherilynn), and his step daughter Heather Gleason.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charlotte Gleason Gandy of Fresno, Ca. His adopted son, Ronald Lee Gandy (Pam) of Maine, and three grandchildren, Ronald Jr, Kristen Gandy, and Cheyenne Gandy. He leaves his son, Eugene Louis Gandy II (Charleen) of Fresno, and three grandchildren, Kenneth Gandy, Eugene Louis Gandy III, and Russell Shawn Gandy, and one great granddaughter, Emmalena Gandy.

Eugene is survived by his brothers, John Wesley Gandy (Joanne) of Woodburn, Or., his brother, Truman Nelson Gandy (Teri) of Pacific, Mo. His sisters, Doris Ann Tarrance (Mel) of Wichita, Ks, and Frances Carol Gandy Walsh (Bill) of Eagle, Id. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and many lifelong friends, Mike Bunk, and Jimmy Rosser.

Starting at the age of 14, in New Orleans, he began a lifelong career in flooring and carpet businesses. He retired in Fresno, California.

Eugene served in the Louisiana National Guard, at Fort Polk, La.

Viewing will be held at the Fresno Memorial Gardens Cemetery, at 9:30, and graveside services at 10 a.m. on Tuesday September 9, 2025. Pastor Bob Small will be officiating services, and interment will be at Fresno Memorial Cemetery. It brings comfort knowing that he is home with the Good Lord, and his family.
