Frances was a devoted and beloved wife for over 65 years to the love of her life, Pete Roman. God blessed them with 5 children and 11 grandchildren. She was the third child of her late parents Maria and Ramon Garibay and a dear sister to Henry, Theresa, Louie and the faithful departed Anita.
Throughout her life she answered to many names of endearment. In addition to Frances and Mom she was adorned with Bella, Frannie, Frannie Cake, Mamacita, Nana and Pachita. Along with raising Patty, Dianne, Rose, Steve and Richard, she found time to sing in the church choir, lead Cub Scouts, paint, sew and be a bilingual teacher’s aide. She loved to dance so much so that any decent beat would get her out on a dance floor!
She was an excellent homemaker, canning preserves, pickles, tomatoes and fruits. Everything was made from scratch with her secret ingredient, love. She would engage her children’s help by having a walnut shelling contest from which all profited with nuts for her fresh apple cake and chocolate chip cookies! Many favorite family recipes will be remembered and passed on along with the associated joyful memories of her.
Hosting holiday gatherings, dinners, luncheons and game nights surrounded with family and friends were especially happy times as she could share her delicious meals and / or desserts. Providing that warm, welcoming, fun environment for those special others in her life was a big part of who she was.
She loved and cared for so many of us during her lifetime, so it was only fitting that in her final years, her devoted husband, with help of their children, in turn cared for her. Assisting our family with her care over many years were her compassionate, dedicated caregivers Marina, Aurelia and Olga. These women were loved by her and very appreciated by our family. During her final days her husband Pete, Patty and these ladies were there for Mom with their loving care and heartfelt prayers.
Her faith in Jesus Christ always shined through her and the life He provided was not wasted. She was always on the go, leaving a trail of kindness, happiness and love behind her. We will all miss her dearly.
Thank you dear God for your beautiful gift of Frances to us and the world!
Frances loved flowers. They brought her much joy throughout her life. However, now that she is surrounded by the most beautiful flowers in heaven, we believe she would love donations to either the Right to Life or the Alzheimer’s Foundation to help cure this dreaded disease.
