Frank Leon Stroude, 70, of Fresno, California, passed away on June 14, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born on September 22, 1954, in San Pedro, California, Frank lived a life rooted in service, strength, and love. He proudly served in the United States Army as a member of the Second Armored Division, a chapter of his life that shaped his discipline and values. After retiring from military service, he spent a decade as a truck driver and also played Triple-A baseball reflecting his relentless work ethic and passion for sports.
Frank was a devoted husband to Marie Stroude, his wife of 47 years, and a proud father to three children: Misty Day, Barbara Stroude, and Ricky Stroude. His commitment to family was unwavering, and his presence was a steady source of love and support throughout their lives. In his younger years, Frank loved scuba diving and playing the drums, pursuits that spoke to his adventurous spirit and creative side. He also had a deep passion for American history, especially military events and could spend hours talking about the major moments that shaped the country he so deeply loved.
But perhaps his most cherished title was “Poppy.” Frank was an incredible grandfather to Mason, Regan, Talon, Christian, Zachary, and Maverick. Whether it was picking the boys up from school or sneaking them a treat, Poppy was always there, playful, loving, and steady. His presence brought joy, comfort, and warmth into their lives. Frank was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Maslynn — adding another beautiful chapter to his growing legacy of love.
Frank is preceded in death by his father Theodore, mother Barbara, and younger brother Theodore. He is survived by his loving wife Marie, and his three children Misty, Barbara, and Ricky.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held on June 27, 2025, at Clovis Hills Church at 11am. He will be cremated, and his ashes laid to rest beside his mother in Kingsburg. A private military salute with immediate family will be held to honor his service.
As Frank always said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” His life was one of wisdom, strength, and unshakable devotion and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
