Guadalupe “Lupe” Robledo Castaneda was born on July 2, 1952 in Weslaco Texas. She entered Heaven’s gates on May 31, 2020. As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Lupe spent her days giving of herself to others. This beautiful part of her was evident throughout her life. As the eldest of 11 siblings, she helped in the raising of her brothers and sisters. All of them have recollections of her caring hand upon their lives. As a means to help support her large family she worked in agriculture including picking cotton and strawberries amongst other things. Despite the hardships she was able to graduate from Roosevelt High School in 1972 and attend Fresno City College and graduate with an AA in 1974. In 1976 Lupe’s most treasured time began, her time as a mother, she stated that being a mother is what brought her the most joy. As her children grew her involvement in ministry increased, it was of great importance to her that her children be in ministry, particularly music, since it was always her heart’s desire to play the piano so she got to fulfill that desire through her children. Her local ministry in the City of Fresno included helping her husband with the distribution of food to those in need. She and her husband were also co-pastors/co-founders of Upper Room church III in which she served wherever she was needed, Sunday School Department, Women’s leader or in the kitchen, Lupe was there to help. Lupe was full of love and compassion and held a strong devotion to God and his people. She was always sharing the love of Jesus to those around her. In 2005 she expanded her horizon and along with her husband began missionary work in Chiapas, Mexico. They have helped bring many to the feet of Jesus Christ and have contributed to the building of churches through-out the poorest areas of Mexico. As a woman of God Lupe knew the power of prayer, dedicating her life to serving Him, everyone around her always knew they could come to her for prayer. She was not ashamed or afraid to share God’s word and led many to the Lord Jesus Christ. With her quiet demeanor and the smile on her face no matter what adversities came her way, those around her saw the love of God. Trusting in God was her go to, through the health struggles she endured including a cancer diagnosis in 2017 she never faltered, she continued trusting in her Savior knowing her life was in His hands. In 2018 she received news she was cancer free. She lived her life trusting God in everything. We remember Lupe for many things, small and big. From her delicious home-cooked meals, to her calming voice and words of comfort that were always on her lips and ready for a listening ear. Guadalupe was preceded in death by her mother, Gonzala Moreno, her father Guadalupe Robledo and her Stepfather, Cleotilde Moreno. Siblings: Leonor Moreno, Marisela M. Negrete & Estela M. Rodriguez Guadalupe is survived by her husband Enrique Castañeda Sr., daughter Ruth Perez, and son Enrique Castañeda Jr., son-in-law, Marco Antonio Pérez-Santos, daughter in law, Diana Razo-Castañeda Grandchildren: Yvonne C. Perez, Judy S. Murdock, Aimee C. Castañeda, Enrique I. Castañeda, Andrea M. Castañeda, and Alondra M Castañeda. Great grandchildren: Ariel Murdock, Kairos, A. Murdock, Hezekiah E. Murdock.

I thank God for the life of sister Lupe. She will always hold a special place in my heart. She left us all a beautiful example of how to be a woman of God! She left behind a beautiful legacy not only to her family but to all those who knew her. She didn’t say much but her actions spoke louder than words. She was truly known by her fruits!
She truly exemplified selflessness in how she always put others first. Sis Lupe was and always will be a blessing to my life and the lives of all my family. She was faithful all the days of her life. Not only in service to God, but also in giving. She was a faithful giver and blessed my parents MANY TIMES! She was a mighty woman of God. She loved God, her family and her church! Because of her faithfulness to God and her Godly example, both her husband and children are active in the ministry! What an example🙏🏼 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”

I am so grateful to God for blessing me with such a strong and beautiful mother.
You were the eldest sister to your 11 siblings and shared many stories of growing up together. You didn’t always have a lot, but you appreciated all that was ever given to you. You enjoyed “family” quality time.
You worked in the fields for many years, yet you still got your education. You worked for FUSD for 31 yrs and retired in 2015. You took pride in your work. You taught us to do the same.
You loved and took such good care of us as we grew up. You taught us the word of God, led by example to be faithful to Christ, and trust him always.
I miss you so much my heart aches. I know I’m not the only one, you are loved by so many. You impacted so many on so many levels. You left an imprint in all of our hearts that can NEVER be erased.
I’ve been told “it gets easier” I’m not sure it gets easier...I do know as long as we stay faithful to God we will see you in heaven! I’ll hug you again!
Our last words to each other were “I love you mom” you answered, “I love you too”.
Thank you God for the mother you gave me...so many special memories I will forever treasure in my heart forever.

Pastor Rodrigo & Lucille Beltran, Upper Room Church Hayward, would like to offer our sincerest condolences. We know that when words are hard to find we know that it is our God who gives us comfort and peace during the most difficult of times. When my husband and I would visit Fresno for church events I always enjoyed sitting next to Sis. Lupe because she always made me feel so welcomed! I will always remember her beautiful smile. She was very quiet but when she started talking she had a wonderful sense of humor! I will truly miss her very much! I wept when we were told of her passing as my family and I loved her very much! I know where she is and I look forward to one day seeing her beautiful face again and that brilliant smile when we all meet in heaven! Praying for the entire family! Love Pastor Lucille Beltran

I am so sad to hear the passing of Lupe. A kind, gentle, courteous individual, Lupe was also an exceptional employee. I worked with her at Webster Elementary School, and as her supervisor I quickly found her an individual who I could trust to get all of her responsibilities completed in a timely and professional manner. Whether it was tying a document, assisting a parent, Lupe was exceptional. I was fortunate to meet her family and I know they will miss her. She was a true Christian, faithful, serving, and honorable. My condolences to the family, Ruth, your Mother was the best!

PS. Lupe do they have tamales in heaven.?
