Hitoshi Jim Kamimoto peacefully passed away in his home on Sunday evening. Jim had a creative mind and remarkable work ethic. He spent decades building a landscape design company. Chances are you have seen one of his many residential and commercial landscape projects in the Central Valley and along the Central Coast. Jim enjoyed fishing, fast cars and good food. In addition, he was active in the Fresno Judo Club and a member of the Fresno Buddhist Temple. Jim was also a sports fan: the San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, and F1 racing were his favorites. Jim will be most remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He is preceded in death by his son Kevin, parents Yasuto and Koyuki Kamimoto, brothers Bill and Tamotsu, and sister Masako. He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Ellen; three children, Elisa Kamimoto and husband John Hayashi of San Francisco, CA; Jason Kamimoto and spouse Michael Beattie of San Francisco, CA; Erin Kamimoto and husband Jose Angeles of Fresno, CA; daughter-in- law, Patricia Kamimoto of Tucson, AZ and two loving grandchildren; Elizabeth Hayashi and Carly Kamimoto.
In addition, he is survived by five sisters; Aiko Imada, Mariko Imada, Haruko Nakagawa, Hanako Nishimoto, Mary Kunishige; three brothers; Joe, Henry and Sho, and many nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by all.
A special thank you to Dr. Robert Bennett, Saint Agnes Hospice, Ron Nakagawa and Jose Mejia, who took special care of him over the past few years and final weeks.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 6, 10:00 am at Lisle Funeral Home in Fresno, CA.
