Jack was a devoted husband and father, an enthusiastic Nascar fan and an avid skier. He began his lifetime love of winter sports at the age of 15 and would take trips to the mountains with his son Taus, family and friends every chance he could. He started his ski retailing career in the 1950's and eventually opened "Jack Pieroni Ski and Sports" which became synonymous with Fresno skiing for many years. He later went to work for Herb Bauer Sporting Goods where he worked until 2010. Jack has been part of the Fresno Ski Club since the 1950's, they have created the "Jack Pieroni Inspirational Award" reconizing his contribution to winter sports. It is given to individuals with similar contributions. Jack also helped found the China peak Ski Resort Ski Patrol. In 2000, on his 70th birthday special recognition was given to Jack by the County Board of Supervisors as they proclaimed December 23rd of that year as Jack Pieroni Day in Fresno County. Special 'I know Jack' pins were worn as a symbol that if you were talking about skiing or at a ski resort in the Central Valley and mentioned Jack's name, someone would always say "I know Jack." Just after his 80th birthday in December 2010, China Peak Mountain Resort honored Jack by naming a run after him, 'Jacks Run' and issuing a Proclamation honoring his commitment to skiing in the valley. Jack has helped generations of Valley families enjoy skiing, from first timers to racers, helping with equipment, transportation, coaching and so much more. Jack leaves an indelible mark on the Fresno community but especially on his family and friends. He will be dearly missed and always remembered as a gracious and loving man.
Those who were touched by his generous spirit will always be proud to say 'I know Jack'. Love always and forever, Bobbie and Taus. He is survived by Bobbie, his wife of 56 years; his son Taus; as well as close family in Sacramento, the Bay Area and Utah. A public Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to the China Peak Race Team 7081 N. Marks Box 265 Fresno, CA 93711.
