James was born in Union Town, Arkansas on Oct. 30, 1931 and passed away in Tollhouse, CA on Aug. 8, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ruth Smith.

James is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cathy; son Jamey Smith and his wife, Cindy; daughters Laurie Hartman and Suzanne Hook-Allen; foster son James Anderson and his wife, Billie; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Mountain View Cemetery at 9:00 am.
