Janet Elyse Yarnell

Janet is survived by her daughter Dawn Lynn; son in law Scott Lynn; and grandson Ethan Lynn; sister Shirley Brown and brother-in-law, Jim Brown; Nephews Tom Brown & Robert Brown, his wife Tamera Brown; sister in law Kimber Smith, her husband Dan Smith; nephews Jameson & Tracy Smith. As well as countless close family friends that she loved so much.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Donald Yarnell and her parents Arthur Pedersen & Florence O’Neal.

Janet was born in Reedley, Ca. and grew up on her family farm in Orange Cove. After graduating from Reedley high school, she attended the Fresno State University nursing program. While attending Fresno State, she met the love of her life, Donald Yarnell. Donald and Janet were married on June 24,1966, in Fresno, California surrounded by their friends and family. After graduating, Janet worked as a nurse while her husband Donald was completing his military training. They moved to Germany for two years during Donald’s military service. The young couple enjoyed touring around Europe during their time overseas before returning to the Fresno area. Janet began an extensive career as a psychiatric nurse within local hospitals. She helped countless individuals within our community struggling with mental health and substance abuse. She offered a healing hand, patience, and compassion.

Janet and Donald welcomed the birth of their child, Dawn Evelyn. Janet was a kind, dedicated mother and an amazing supportive grandmother to Ethan Lynn. She always knew how to make any event special. Janet was known for her incredible baking skills providing her family with homemade pies, cakes, and cookies for all special days. The family enjoyed spending time together at the coast, Disneyland, and many tropical locations.

Graveside Services will be held on April 2, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Clovis Cemetery, Herndon and Villa Avenues, Clovis.
