

Jean Yaeko Tonooka was born in Fresno, California to Kiyoko and Richard Akira Inaba on March 1, 1937. She passed away on January 15, 2026 at the age of 88 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband Harley Masaru Tonooka and her sister Joan Inaba Hisamoto. She is leaving behind her son Keith Tonooka and his wife Karen and daughter Cathy Tonooka Sunada and her husband Clayton. Jean is also survived by her four beloved grandchildren, Justin and Jordan Tonooka and Kayla and Kailee Sunada.
Jean is also survived by her stepmother Mrs. Rieko Inaba, siblings Louise Morimoto, Gay Taira, Fred Inaba (Lianne), Olivia Waterman (Bob) and Gloria Inaba and many nieces and nephews who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
Jean was born in Fresno, Ca and attended Fresno High School and Fresno State. She was employed at VMC (Valley Medical Center) in Fresno for some 37 years. Jean was a devout Buddhist and an active member of the Fresno Buddhist Church and all of it's activities for as long as she was able. She and Harley were instrumental in establishing the Fresno Gumyo Taiko which she remained active with for many years.
