Jennie was born on February 15, 1924, in Laton, California, to Eliseo and Guadalupe Montejano. She was one of six sisters: Mary, Betsy, Jovita, Ruby, Helen, and Jennie. Jennie has now joined her parents and most of her beloved sisters in Heaven. She is survived by the youngest of the sisters, her dear sister Helen.
Before her marriage, Jennie lived in Laton, Decoto, and Fresno, California, spending most of her early years in Fresno.
She met her husband, Julio A. Martín, in Fresno. They were married in 1948 at Mt. Carmel Church. During their marriage, they were blessed with five children: Julio Jr., Laura, Daniel, Arthur, and Ernie. In their early married years, they lived in Fresno before moving south in the early 1950s to Pasadena and throughout the Los Angeles area. In 1977, Jennie and Julio, along with their two youngest sons, Arthur and Ernie, moved back north to Fresno, where she would reside for the remainder of her years.
In 2003, Jennie lost her beloved husband, Julio, at the age of 79 due to a heart attack. In 2018, she also endured the loss of her only daughter, Laura, at the age of 65 to cancer.
Jennie is survived by her sons, who will miss her dearly.
She loved and forever cherished her grandchildren: Fernando, Michael, and Sophia; Angel and Gabriel; Daniel and Charlene; Katherin and Art; and Christian.
Jennie also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Mila and Juliet; Dylan; Maddie and Logan; Leilani and Adrian; Shane, Neve, and Ali; and Camila and Noah.
She was deeply loved and tenderly cared for in her final years by her daughters-in-law, Virginia, Diane, and Sonia.
In addition, she leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Jennie was welcoming and easygoing. Those who knew her will remember her infectious smile, her deep-rooted Catholic faith, and her loving and generous nature. Though Jennie may be gone from our sight, she will never be forgotten.
