

Jessie Lane passed away peacefully at home on Friday afternoon, on August 27, 2010. In her final days she was surrounded around the clock with loving family and friends. We are grateful to all of the family and friends who visited her and helped our family in a time of need. It is greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.
As a young girl Jessie (Masterson) Lane moved to Caruthers, Ca. with her family from Arkansas in 1941. She attended grammar school and high school there graduating from Caruthers High. Jessie had "The gift" when it came to food and food presentation and loved to share it with everyone. She acquired Movable Feast Catering in 1988 in Fresno and began to share her gift. Jessie's reputation for great food spread rapidly throughout the community. She was known for original recipes and home cooked food. She was featured in numerous newspaper articles and catered for Presidents, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. She also created a variety of appetizers that she provided for other caterers throughout the region. Her catering career lasted for 15 years. Chances are if you attended weddings or parties in the Fresno area between the years 1988 and 2003 you have tasted her cooking. Most of the recipes she used were created by her and closely guarded
Jessie's favorite time of the year was Christmas. She loved to decorate the house and had a huge tree that was always loaded with presents for everyone. She always had stockings for all the family filled with nick knacks and movie passes or gift cards. Some years you may get an apple or orange in the toe of the stocking to fill it up. It was a family tradition to put wind up toys in her stocking. She loved them and has a very large collection of them to date.
Jessie Lane was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edna Masterson of Caruthers, Ca.; her brothers, Winford Masterson of Lodi, Ca., Cecil Masterson of Carlsbad, Ca., Billy Masterson of Caruthers, Ca.; her sisters, Grace O'Connor of Lodi, Ca. and Ruby Hamblin of Easton, Ca.
She is survived by her loving partner and best friend, James Ashley of Fresno; her son, Mark Lane of Fresno; daughter, Analisa England of Caruthers, Ca.; grandchildren, Brittney Lane of Malibu, Ca, Brandon Lane of Fresno, Ryan England and Eric England of Caruthers, Ca; stepdaughters, Dana Ashley-Trescany and her husband Al of Paso Robles, Ca., Joell Batista and her husband Juan of Salinas, Ca., Kori Hitchcock and her husband John of Hollister, Ca.; stepgrandchildren, Addison Ashley of Paso Robles, Ca., Caden Batista and Bella Batista of Salinas, Ca., Emilee Hitchcock and Beth Hitchcock of Hollister, Ca.; sister, Betty Foster and her husband Ken of Fresno, Ca.; brother-in-law, Ben Hamblin of Easton, Ca.; numerous nieces and nephews all of whom she loved.
A Memorial Service will be held at Peoples Church, G.L. Johnson Chapel, on Friday, September 3, 2010, at 10:30 a.m.
