Jesus was born on March 31, 1969, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Ramon Canchola Gonzalez and Rosa Maria Canchola Perez. He grew up in Mexico alongside his sister, Rosalba Canchola. In 1988, he immigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities and made Firebaugh, California his home.
That same year marked an important turning point in his life when he gave his life to Christ and was baptized shortly thereafter. Jesus became a dedicated member of Iglesia Biblia Abierta in Firebaugh, where he faithfully served for many years. He was part of the construction team that helped build the church sanctuary and
continued to serve the church in many ways throughout his life. He assisted with the men’s ministry, helped in the kitchen by cooking for church events, recorded church services, served as the church photographer, co-directed church mini films, and volunteered his time to help with many church projects.
Jesus was also known by many as “Chef Goose.” Cooking was one of the ways he expressed his love for others. Whether it was for church gatherings, conventions, or family events, he was often found behind the grill preparing meals for everyone. His pollo al disco became a favorite dish that many looked forward to.
Jesus was a hardworking man who dedicated many years to providing for his family. After arriving in the United States, he worked in agriculture and later for Silveira Bros in Mendota, California until 2005. He then began working for Thomason Tractor Company of California as a truck driver and equipment setup technician. Known for his strong work ethic and many skills, he was also a welder and fabricator who was always willing to help wherever he was needed. In 2024, he began working for Stanislaus Food Products, where he continued working faithfully.
Outside of work, Jesus enjoyed watching movies, fixing things around the house, traveling, and spending time with his beloved wife, family, and friends through gatherings and cookouts. He also had a well-known appreciation for cologne and enjoyed keeping up with the newest fragrances. In his later years, he also developed a love for dogs to the point that he ended up with 6 dogs and 1 cat.
Jesus will be remembered as a quiet but deeply caring man who showed his love through his actions. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who worked hard, served faithfully, and always helped others when they were in need.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kenia Almeraz; his son, Ramon Canchola; his daughter, Sofia Canchola; and his daughter-in-law, Bianca Canchola. He was also a loving stepfather to Alexis, Sitley, and Nico Almeraz. He was a proud grandfather to Addai Canchola and a step-grandfather to Genevieve y Santiago Barrón. Jesus is also survived by his parents, Ramon Canchola Gonzalez and Rosa Maria Canchola Perez; his sister, Rosalba Canchola; and his niece Melisa Aldana, who reside in Mexico.
Jesus’ life will be remembered for his service, his strong work ethic, and the quiet love he showed to those around him. His legacy will live on through his family, his church, and the many lives he blessed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Open Bible Church, located at 373 N Street, Firebaugh, CA 93622, on Thursday, March
19, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. All who knew and loved Jesus are welcomed to attend.
