

Jimmy of Fresno, formally of Sanger, passed away on January 31, 2015 at the age of 94. He was a lifelong farmer. Jimmy was born on January 3, 1921, in Kingsburg, CA. He was the fifth of eleven children born to Jitsuji and Mumeyo Bungo.
After graduating from Kingsburg High School, he farmed with his family until they were interned to Gila, AZ. Jimmy was drafted into United States Army, serving for two years. Returning to the States, he married Sue Yoshiye Honda, and moved to Montana to join the family farm operation. Their son Edwin was born. They soon relocated to a farm in Reedley, CA. Their daughter Amy was born. The Bungo family expanded their farming and Jimmy moved to a new ranch in Sanger, CA, raising tree fruit and grapes. He retired in 1983. Jimmy enjoyed retirement by gardening, fishing and traveling.
The family is very appreciative to the staffs of Vintage Gardens; Hinds Hospice; and C Care.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sue; a brother Harry; sisters, Mable Kodama, Doris Kawaguchi, and Esther Sasaki.
Jimmy is survived by his son, Edwin and his wife Patricia; daughter, Amy Yoshikawa and her husband Craig; grandsons, Grant and Michael Bungo, and Cory and Kyle Yoshikawa. He is also survived by his siblings, Alice Nakai, Sam Bungo and wife Peggy, Hazel Bungo, Mae Gundlach and husband Dave, Grace Nakagawa and husband Sammy, and Glenn Bungo and wife Patsy; in addition to Jimmy's many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
