John Perez Cervantes, age 91, was born on December 27, 1928 in Brawley, California. He served his country in the Korean War, a Corporal in the Army Infantry Battalion, Heavy Mortars Division. He married Pauline Murillo Cervantes in Fresno, California on December 10, 1952. They moved to Indio, California in 1954, where they started their family of five; Tom, John, Robert, Marina, and Yolanda.

John was a Citrus Grove Manager for 20 years in Indio. He loved fishing, making bird houses, and breeding dogs. Most important, he was a faithful servant of the Lord. He was baptized in the Seventh Day Adventist Church at the age of 30 and faithful to the day that the Lord put him to rest. John and Pauline were among the members who pioneered the first Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church in Indio, Ca. in 1955. For the advancement of the church he gave his time and talents as head elder, missionary worker, and teacher.

In 1974, John and Pauline moved with their children to Fresno, Ca. He retired from the Employment Development Department after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Fresno Central Seventh Day Adventist Church.

John was a loving husband and father. He is survived by sons, Tom and Linda (wife) Cervantes; John and Martha (wife) Cervantes; Robert and Sylvia (wife) Cervantes; daughters, Marina Ferratt and Yolanda Rodriguez; 16 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline, father Pedro Cervantes and mother Sara Montez; brothers and sisters; Benny Cervantes, Mollie Cervantes, Clara Cervantes, Mickey Sanchez, Geniveve Garcia, Tony Montez, Tommy Montez; grandsons and great-grandson; Jeremy Ferratt, Fabian Torres, Julian Robert Cervantes.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, Services will be private.
