John was a humble man, open to friendship with everyone he met, no matter who they were. He was known as Honest John, Big John and the John who liked to laugh and talk a lot! It won him many friends who would go out of their way to stop and talk to him everywhere he went.
During World War II, he worked in the shipyards before joining the United States Navy in active service. Following the war, he found and married Elva Allison in 1946, who was the love of his life.
His work ethic enabled him to build his own home. The tribute of this energy came from his parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Felling Heinrich, who were immigrants from the Volga River area in Russia. Twelve children were born of this union. All of them have preceded John in death.
John worked for Rainbow Bakery, retiring at age 65. He then had the joy of serving as a Deacon in the Church of Christ, where he met many wonderful people.
The prides of his life were his children, Sharry Heinrich, Linda Bagby, Diane Box, and Michael Heinrich. Blessings were added to him through his grandchildren, Jennifer Tolbert, Eric Bagby, Kim Bagby, and Garet Heinrich; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Bagby, Lexi and Jaydon Tolbert.
Goodnight love, Goodnight dad, Goodnight grandpa, See you in the morning.
A Special thanks to Ron Bagby; and Chad and Jennifer Tolbert; for all of the help they gave in going more than the second mile.
There will be no service.
Remembrances may be made to your favorite charity; or just stop and talk with someone in the course of your day. It was his favorite thing to do.
