John served in the Army for 3 years and the Army Reserve for 3 years, when asked what he did, he would always say, “If I told you I would have to kill you”, as the work he was assigned was classified “Top Secret”. So no one asked twice. John received a National Defense Medal for being a sharp shooter. John worked for the County of Fresno as a Warehouse supervisor making sure the Fresno area got all their needed supplies for over 25 years. Then another 5 years as a Social Services supervisor before he retired. Prior to working for the County of Fresno, John worked as a cabinet maker and was great working with wood, as he could build anything. He collected and loved DC/ Marvel comic books and could tell you the history behind all the super heroes. John was Catholic and planned on becoming a monk, until he went to the beach and saw all the beautiful sights. Many years later he joined Saints Community and became Head Deacon. This was John’s most cherished duty, working around the church. During these years, when anyone called and asked where he was, the answer was always, he is at church doing something. John’s greatest joy was being with family.
John leaves behind his spirit of love, strength, courage, dedication, and commitment. To always treat others the way you would want to be treated. Knowing we all are works in progress. So as you start tomorrow without John, please choose to love each other unconditionally.
