

He moved to Fresno, CA, in 1924, and later graduated from Fresno Technical High School in 1930. On September 1, 1940, he married Joanna Drazich, of Anaconda, MT. They were married 59 years, before her passing in 1999.
John was in the United States Army during World War II, and he retired from Pacific Bell Telephone Company after 20 years of service in 1970. He was a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society; the Fresno Gold Note Chorus; the Croatian Fraternal Union; the Cotillion Club; Fresno Elks Club; and Telephone Pioneers.
He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn How- den and her husband Tom, of San Jose, CA; granddaughter, Kathleen Lawrence and her husband Casey of Vashon Island, WA; his grandson, Chris How- den and his wife Edie, of Santa Clara, CA; and great-grandchildren, Mary and Clare Lawrence, and Olive and Leo Howden.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church, 1410 N. Wishon Avenue, on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m.
