John Dieter Petrosian

John was born on January 13, 1938 in the Oberschlesien region of Germany. Labeled as Displaced Persons, John and his mother Helen fled Germany after World War II. By the grace of God, they arrived in Fresno in July of 1950.

John took many odd jobs growing up to help provide for his family: Helen, stepdad Asat, brothers Greg and Mike and sister Chris. John worked his way through college, graduating from Fresno State, going on to teach for Fresno Unified School District for over 35 years. During that time he coached several sports including his favorite sport, soccer.

John was always an active member of his church, a true servant of God. He had several interests including gardening, traveling, music and cars. John was a hard working, kind, warm-hearted man. He loved to talk with people, making friends anywhere he went.

John is survived by his wife Lisa, son Gary, stepdaughter Jane, Jane’s husband Bola, grandsons Cole, Parker & Andrew.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on 10/5/2021 at Saint Peter the Apostle Church, 3502 North First Street in Fresno.
