

Joseph Edward Lenahan, Jr., 82, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at home surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren at his bedside. He was born on February 8, 1939 in Louisville, KY., to the late parents of Joseph E. Lenahan, Sr. and Elizabeth Lenahan. Joe joined the United States Marine Corps on August 27, 1956 and proudly served his country until August 11, 1959. Joseph married Mary Jane Lally on June 18, 1960 in Louisville, KY. They were married for 61 years and have five children. He graduated from the University of Louisville and received his bachelor’s degree in computer science. In June 1974, Joe and Mary moved to Clovis, California where they have lived for 47 years.
Joe was a computer consultant for over thirty-five years in the healthcare industry and was fortunate to travel all over the U.S. and over-seas on various long term assignments. Joe spent six months working as a civilian computer consultant aboard the USS Constellation traveling to Diego Garcia. Later in his career he traveled to the island of Malta working on a six month assignment. He loved traveling and exploring new cities during his career. Joe’s favorite vacation place was Maui, which he enjoyed visiting since the mid 1980’s. He also enjoyed going to the coast, Yosemite and Shaver Lake for quick weekend getaways.
He is preceded in death by his parents, former daughter-in-law Bonnie Lenahan, and grandson Nicholas Joseph Murphy. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Clovis; sister, Sherron Lenahan Bell of Louisville, KY; son Mike and wife Janet of Napa; daughter Kathy and husband Dean of Clovis; son Pat and wife Melissa of Fresno; daughter Lisa and husband Bill of Plumas Lake; son Tim and wife Shawnie of Clovis; grandchildren Trevor Lenahan, John Murphy, Heather James, Tara Lenahan, Austin Murphy, Kaitlyn and Aidan Lenahan.
Joe had a giving heart and a fun-loving personality to match. During retirement Joe became a volunteer at his youngest grandchild’s school, Copper Hills Elementary, and was affectionately known at Mr. Joe to the staff and students. He only missed one day the entire year and was so proud to be recognized as Volunteer of the Year.
Joe loved his family especially his seven grandchildren. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
