Joseph Donald Marcelli

He attended Central Union High School and graduated from Fresno State University. He received his teaching credential and taught school for Fresno Unified School District for 43 years, 27 years in Special Education. For his outstanding contribution to the district, he was awarded an honorary life membership in the California Congress of Parents and Teachers. In December of 1984, he was honored by Fresno Unified School District as Certificated Teacher of the Month for his outstanding contributions to students in Special Education; and on May 24, 1985, he received the California Association of Neurological Handicap Award for outstanding devotion and service to teaching disabled students.

He was a faithful member of the Shrine of St. Therese for over 56 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Rose Marcelli; his beloved brothers, Angelo and Sgt. Donald Marcelli.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Marcelli, of 56 1/2 years; son, Mark Marcelli and his wife Tassa; daughters, Doris Machado, Rosemary Satterlee and her husband Tim and Michelle Marcelli-Martinez. Beloved grandfather of Kimberly, Krista and Kyle Marcelli, Joseph and Nicholas Machado, Nikki Mills and husband Bobby, Lauren and Stephanie Satterlee, and Elizabeth Mehling; and great-grandfather of Austin and Ashley Mills. He is survived by his brothers, Tony, John and Albert; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church, on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church at 10:00 am, on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Entombment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
