Julie Rodriguez

Julie Rodriguez passed away on March 20th, 2020 at 99 years old. She was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on July 8th, 1920. After meeting her husband, Paul, she moved to Fresno, CA where she taught herself to read, write, and speak English. She will be remembered for giving a lifetime of love and laughter to her family. Julie was the mother of six children. Despite her large family, she always made time for everyone and always provided her love and support. Julie was a fighter in all things. No matter how much pain she was in, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, she stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Julie, and all her family admired her for that.

Julie loved to cook. If you ever made a visit to her house, it was never quick and she would fill your day with food and conversation. Always on the move, her weekends were spent at church and shopping at all her favorite stores. She enjoyed her days at the Cherry Auction and countless yard sales she held at her home. Everyone in the neighborhood knew her. She will be missed for the excitement she got from scratching those lottery tickets every night and letting everyone know when she just won it big. But most of all, Julie will be missed for her commitment to family and selfless giving. Even at 99, she never missed anyone’s birthday and always made you feel special. The holidays were her favorite and every Christmas we looked forward to her delicious menudo. We are a very fortunate family to have had this woman in our lives as long as we have. She is now back together, hand in hand, with her Viejo. Till we all meet again. Love your family. P.S You were never alone.

Julie was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Paul Rodriguez, her son Jose Feliu Sr and daughter Carmen Soto.

She is survived by her son Paul Rodriguez and his wife Anna, daughter Minnie Chavarria and her husband David son David Rodriguez and his wife Nancy, daughter Isabel Feliu and her husband Monserrate and her daughter-in-law Linda Feliu. 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be celebrated on a date yet to be determined.
