She was one of four siblings, two brothers and a sister.
Lana married our father in 1948 and immigrated to the United States in 1949, while pregnant with her first child. She feared that she would give birth on transit by steamship over the United States from China. As luck would have it, she gave birth to a baby boy in January 1950.
The family settle in San Francisco, where Lana became a seamstress. A daughter was born in July 1951, in San Francisco. Because of medical reasons, the family soon moved to the Central Valley, where the weather was drier. They ultimately moved to Madera and soon added another daughter and son, born in 1953 and in 1954, to the family.
Lana lived life to the fullest. A happy marriage, wonderful successful family and a loving home, were just some of her many accomplishments. She stressed to the family how important education was in order to be successful.
Once the children were in college, Lana decided to try new ventures. After selling the family grocery business, they bought a restaurant. The change from operating a grocery store to running a restaurant was quite different. They were up to the challenge and successfully operated the restaurant for 11 years before deciding to retire in Pleasanton.
While in Pleasanton, Lana enjoyed an active retirement. She became active in the Fah Yuen Association. She served on various committees and held office in the association. She also managed to do some traveling. She toured Europe, New Orleans, Alaska, China and cruised the Caribbean.
Lana’s compassion, kindness and knowledge left a lasting impression on all of us. Hopefully, we can all live up to her expectations. Her family and friends were her greatest joy.
Lana is survived by her four children, seven grandsons, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, her legacy will live on.
