She is preceded in death by her mother, Modena Bates; her father, Ivie Bates; loving husband John, and her youngest son Daniel.

LaQuita from Lavaca is survived by sister, Iva Raye and husband Bob Stice; brother, Larry Don Bates and wife June; two sons, J. Chris, Philip and his wife Jeannie Marie; six grandchildren, Andrea Meyers, Matthew Yocum, Javier Morelos, Kristy Yocum, Justin Bowerman, Derek Goldenstein and daughter-in-law, Susana Schubert; five great-grandchildren Emma and Micah Meyers, Daniel Garcia, Miller Yocum, Elise Joy Morelos,; and many nieces and nephews.
