Laurie Ann Ostergaard was born into this world on December 31, 1960 to the proud parents of Don and Diane. At the age of 1 she came down with a fever that would later leave her epileptic. She never let that define her.
Growing up in the country with her older sister Donna who taught her how to ride a bike but forgot to show her how to use the brakes.
Later she would become a big sister to Deborah who she loved to teach to dance but got laughter out of placing blame.
Laurie was blessed later in life to become a daughter to Cindy and a big sister again to Maegan. Little did she know how much joy and happiness they would bring into her life again.
She attended public schools and became a proud graduate of Clovis West High School despite all odds. It was there where she would meet her lifetime best friend Michelle who she always called her sister.
Laurie loved being an Aunt to Jonathan, Bradley, Kyle and Trevor. As well as a great Aunt to Jocelyn, Alyssa, Emily, Alex, Jalyssa, Nicholas, Ian, Breanna and Aubrey.
Laurie loved spending her time making latch hook rugs to share, puzzles to hang and reading Stephen king books. She would look forward to her monthly dances where she would see her friends and get her boogie on.
Her greatest joy was talking on the phone daily to her best friend Michelle and making sure her dad always had his sodas.
May of this year she was faced with her biggest challenge, Cancer. After multiple surgeries and 84 days in the hospital Laurie taught us all what true bravery really is.
Staying strong and moving forward being the caring person she is she wanted to surprise Alex at his first football game. Watching him play and Jalyssa cheer brought the smile to her face that we all loved.
As strong as she was on September 23, 2018 Laurie was called home.
The family has asked that remembrance of Laurie be sent to The American Cancer Society, 2222 W Shaw Ave #201, Fresno, CA 93711.
