She was born in San Francisco on September 29, 1918 to Ida Mae and David Easton. She was very proud that she was a San Francisco girl. She was preceded in death by her 5 siblings.
Lorna was first married to Les Couey. They lived in Redding until his untimely death. Lorna was fortunate to later marry Jack Stewart. He became a wonderful husband and father to her two children until his death.
In her early career, Lorna worked in the business world in San Francisco, but she is best remembered for being a long-time teacher in Fresno. During her lengthy retirement she traveled extensively. Many of these trips were taken with her long-time friend, Lynda Qualls.
Lorna was the ultimate volunteer, doing everything from being an Angel on Wheels to volunteering at Valley Children’s Hospital. She also loved a good game of bridge and all her bridge friends.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nanette and Ray Audet of Fairfax Station, Virginia, her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Lisa Couey of Manhattan Beach, California, step son and daughter-in-law Jack and Dianne Stewart of Santa Clarita, California, plus 5 grandchildren.
The family is very grateful to Rhonda Rideout for her love, companionship, and care she gave to Lorna in the last years of her life. She was a true blessing to Lorna. Special appreciation also goes out to Lucinda Chavira, Lynn at Bullard Pharmacy, Dr. Dickran Gulesserian, Dr. Robert Salazar, and St. Agnes Hospice.
