

Louis was born in Teaneck, New Jersey and raised in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. After graduating from Ridgefield Park High School in 1945, he had a short stint in the Merchant Marines during World War II (1944-46). He subsequently enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War. After the war, he re-enlisted and served two years at Fort Campbell, KY, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
After Lou’s time in the military, he began his career in the industrial marketplace, starting out in industrial distribution as a salesman with Tri-County Industrial Supply. He then was with Hansen & Yorke many years as sales manager of their New Jersey branch. The company was purchased by Graybar Electric, and Lou was appointed manager of the Connecticut branch. He ultimately became manager of the Graybar Industrial Division until it was disbanded.
Lou joined the L.S. Starrett Company in Athol, MA in 1973 and became manager of the Saw Division. Lou moved to California and joined Bee Industrial Supply for a short time, eventually rejoining the L.S. Starrett Company as their Canadian Sales Manager. After five years in Canada, Lou returned to Alameda, CA, and at the age of 60, started his own manufacturers rep company, CE Sales and Marketing, with Bob Cottrill as partner. After twenty successful years, Lou retired at 80 years of age.
Lou was a member of the Alameda Elks Lodge #1015, where he was an active participant for many years. He was also a participant in the Honor Flight to Washington, DC in 2014, which was a highlight in his life.
A big portion of his life was spent as a volunteer firefighter in the state of New Jersey, starting as a teenager in Ridgefield Park, eventually becoming fire chief. After moving to Madison Park, NJ, he started a fire department, becoming its first fire chief in 1956. From 1962 -1969 he was a volunteer fire fighter in Chatham Borough, NJ.
Lou met Lily in Alameda, CA, marrying in 1979. They were married for 45 years, residing in Alameda, before moving to an assisted living facility in Fresno, CA this past summer.
Louis leaves his beloved wife Lily, his two daughters, Merillyn Chicknavorian and Luanne Muzzy, and three grandchildren, Stephen, Rob and Angie Muzzy. In addition, he leaves two great grandchildren, Silas and Rowan Muzzy. Additionally, he leaves two stepchildren, Ron Duarte and Carolyn Sutton.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Avenue, Fresno, CA.
