

Maria Micaela Anchondo, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully in her home, at the age of 75 on October 16, 2024. Micaela was born in Culiacan, Sinaloa, on August 23, 1949, daughter to Dr. Benito Dozal Anchondo and Alejandra Meza Anchondo, she attended elementary, middle and high school in Culiacan before moving to the U.S. in 1967. Micaela like many, worked as a farm laborer, then as a waitress, to eventually save enough money to buy her first home in 1980. While working to support herself and her children, Micaela began fostering children. Through her passion, she fostered over 250 children in her lifetime. As a foster mother Micaela was able to impact the lives of many children through her faith in Jesus Christ and assisted them in finding their purpose in life. Micaela cared for her foster children as her own and many who are now adults and carrying on with their own families, constantly share how much of an angel Micaela was to them, and how she changed the course of their lives by guiding them with love and compassion.
Micaela was a vibrant soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Micaela was known to never walk out of her home without her hair coifed, nails manicured and red lipstick. She was always prepared to enjoy life. She had a passion for thrifting, often uncovering unique treasures and sharing her finds with her loved ones. Her keen eye for style and creativity made her a cherished source of inspiration for those around her.
Above all, Micaela adored spending time with her family. Whether it was gathering for celebrations or sharing quiet moments at home, she fostered a deep sense of connection and love within her family.
Micaela is preceded in death by her first born, Salvador De Gortari. She is survived by her loving daughters Christine Valle Medina, and Dr. Priscilla Valle. Micaela’s grandchildren: Steven, Adrianne, Salvador , Jazmine, Michaela, Jovanthony, Isabel, Melody, Jazzel and Anthony. She has 16 great-grandchildren numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 4:00 pm and followed by a prayer service at 6:00 pm at the Lisle Funeral Home. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 10:00 am St. Mary's Queen of Apostle Church. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
